Photobook `602`
This book is a collection of digitally made photographs taken in the Antwerpen districts of Merksem and Schoten.
The result is a documentation of a walk made several times in the months of April and May 2019 that explores and narrates an outsiders experience to a suburban environment.
The interest to archive the two surroundings began with a bus journey that would leave from Antwerpen Central, drive through Merksem, a heavily multi-cultural neighborhood, through a sublime gap of nature and into Schoten, a middle-class classical Belgium town.
`602` is an outcome that is built upon the foundations of curiosity for the differences of these two places that sit so closely together resulting in portraits of encounters with local citizens. It combines true elements of being a photographer that is narrating an interpretation and working towards a vision that is true to the aesthetic of the documenter whilst simultaneously speaking to the spectator of the work.
